The Warrior is a close-quarters melee DPS build that is capable of outputting huge single-target and AoE damage with the Greatsword, whilst applying powerful debuffs to the enemy through the use of Spear abilities.
Warrior Build Pros:
-
Greatsword (specifically Serenity) is one of the highest DPS weapons currently in New World, only outpaced by the Rapier, which only works well as a 1-of (stacking Greatswords in your team is fine!)
-
By swapping to spear when its abilities are ready, you can provide important CC, Weaken and Rend debuffs to the enemy, majorly increasing your team's survivability whilst reducing the enemies!
Warrior Build Cons:
-
Requires the Serenity artifact Greatsword in order to achieve the high-damage numbers this build is capable of.
When entering “Onslaught” mode via using Great Sword’s red abilities, your character increases the damage they take by 15%. -
Combined with the low constitution this build runs, inexperienced players may find themselves dying very often when first piloting the warrior build!
Ability Rotation

Open by using Skewer on the enemy to apply a Weaken debuff, followed by Perforate and then Sweep. However, when up against boss enemies, skip the Sweep, as it will not knock them down.

Perform a dodge roll (to keep your Opal gem active) then switch to Greatsword and use Relentless Rush to enter Onslaught* stance, followed by Skyward Slash** to apply a further 30% rend. Finish the ability stack with Roaring Rupture to clump-up enemies and pull in any near by ranged mobs. However, like with Sweep, when up against boss enemies, skip the Rupture as it will not pull them closer.
Finally, while waiting for your Skewer and Perforate abilities to finish coming off cooldown, follow up with a rotation of dodging (to keep your stamina under 100%) and using fully-charged heavy attacks with the Great Sword. Once your spear abilities are coming back off cooldown, repeat the rotation from the beginning!

*When in Onslaught stance, heavy attacks will consume 10 stamina each, keeping the Opal Gem active. You will only need to dodge during the first phase of the rotation, and then after you use rupture (rupture takes you out of Onslaught) or when you switch back to Spear (Weapon swapping also ends the Onslaught stance)

**During a Nature Mutation expedition, fully upgrading Skyward Slash in the weapon mastery tree to unlock Sickening Slash is advised, as with this upgrade it can reduce enemy healing.
